To produce our line of quality organic leather cases, all the leather used for our products are EU sourced to meet the organic criteria laid down by the world's leading organic certification body (http://www.soilassociation.org) whose robust standards for organic rearing of cattle exceed that of the EU organic regulations.

To qualify as an organic leather product, not only are the animals reared on fully traceable and organically certified farms, but the tanning process also complies with the Soil Association's organic standards. The most important factor throughout is animal welfare.

Organically reared livestock have these advantages over non-organically reared livestock:

  1. Livestock are managed organically throughout their entire lives before they are classed as "organic".
  2. Livestock are fed to the best standards - on organic feed, and volumes per animal are strictly managed.
  3. Organically reared livestock are free range and not allowed to be housed indoors permanently - when indoors they have a minimum prescribed lying area.
  4. Organic farms are subject to inspections (without notice) to ensure all standards are upheld.
  5. During the sale process, animal stress must be kept to a minimum.
  6. All Livestock movements are documented and traceable throughout their lives.
  7. Organic standards require exemplary hygienic standards to ensure the integrity of animal welfare.
  8. Organic stock are separated from non-organic at all times.

Furthermore, the tanning process for the organic leather is held to higher standards than commercial tanning operations. There is strict control on the inputs used in the process, ensuring additional environmental benefits, which include:

  1. Only natural biodegradable tanning agents / dyes are used.
  2. The recycling of organic waste via water treatment plant.
  3. Zero waste policy to ensure that all byproducts such as water, fertilizers, wool, bio-gas and paper are used.
